Travel Blog: Top Reasons to Visit Thailand
Thailand is a holidaymaker’s dream that boasts an irresistible combination of striking natural beauty, inspiring temples, heart-warming hospitality, tantalizing cuisine and stunning beaches. There is no place on Earth like Thailand. Millions from the world over flock to Thailand each year to experience what this magical kingdom has to offer. The food, the culture, friendly people, the beaches, the adventures, the fun and the natural beauty; this country definitely has it all.
Here are 8 reasons why your next vacation should be Thailand.
Thailand’s Beaches Are Among the Best Beaches in the World
Thailand has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world – from the quiet and less populated islands of Koh Yao Yai and Koh Lanta to the more famous “James Bond” island and Koh Phi Phi, which was featured in Leonardo Dicaprio’s “The Beach”. All offers sandy white beaches and crystal clear blue water. Patong beach in Phuket is famous for its night life and exotic entertainment while Surin beach offers a more angelic and zen-like atmosphere. There’s No Better Place for Thai Food Than Thailand
True, you can find Thai food pretty much anywhere in the world, but what better place to experience Thai cuisine than in Thailand itself. From fresh grilled seafood that just came out of the water to the more traditional dishes such as Tom Yum soup and Larb Gai (Chicken Salad), from the exotic taste of Thai cuisine with its herbs & spices to the abundance of fresh ingredients, food lovers all over the world will find Thailand to be truly a foodies’ paradise. The Exotic Thai Fruits Are To Die For
This maybe the best reason for someone like me to visit Thailand. Here is where you can find fresh exotic fruits such as mangostene, lychee, longan, rambutan, guava, Rose apple, Langsat, to the more well known pineapple, papaya and coconut. The list can go on and on. Not only are they healthy, nutritious and hydrating, they are incredibly cheap. For about 50 baht (about a dollar and 20 cents), you can purchase about 3 kilos of rambutan in any local Thai market.
Thailand Has A Very Rich Culture
From dazzling temples that just seem to exist everywhere in Thailand to its amazing and intricate architecture, Thai culture is deeply influenced and rooted by religion. The majority of Thai are Theraveda Buddhist and religion in Thailand pervades many aspects of Thai life. Thailand is also a country that made up of some 70 ethnic groups, including 24 groups of Tai people. The Thai and Thai Chinese make up approximately 90% of the population; Khmer and Mon-Khmer – 6%, while the Malays of southern Thailand make up of around 3%. The leftover 1% belongs to the hill tribes of Karen, Hmong, Lahu and others in the northern provinces. Check out our Thai Heritage Discovery and Thailand Explorient Tours.
Tons of Soft Adventures to Engage In
You don’t go to Thailand and not take part in the many adventures that the country has to offer. From trekking on elephants’ back through the jungle to bamboo rafting down the Mae Kok river in Chiang Rai; from sea-kayaking and snorkling/ diving in the azure water of the Andaman sea to bathing in the water falls of the country’s many national parks, there’s something for everyone. Here are a few soft adventure tour packages Explorient offers: River Kwai Jungle Rafts, Phuket Sea Kayak Adventure, and Ultimate Thailand Adventure.
Spas in Thailand Are Amazing
If the other reasons haven’t convinced you to go to Thailand, then maybe this one will. After a long day of sightseeing or just simply frolicking on the beach, there’s nothing better than to check in to the many world-class spas, or one of the massage parlors on the beach to relax and indulge and let the day’s hard work (if you can call it that) melts away. For Spa packages, check out our Ultimate Spas of Thailand and Bangkok Spa Indulgence tours.
Night Markets and Souvenir Shoppings Are Lots of Fun
One of the most fun things to do in Thailand is to shop, especially at the night markets or night bazaars. Thailand is truly a shopper’s paradise and almost everything is cheap. You can bargain for anything – from clothes, bags, watches, cameras to crafted souvenirs and Thai silk. Aside from sold goods, there are tons of food stalls where you can try out the locals’ savory cuisines and sweet desserts.
Thai People Are Incredibly Hospitable and Friendly
Last, but not least, you visit Thailand for its people. Thai are among the most friendliest people in the world. Since the values of Buddhism play a huge role in day-to-day life, you’ll find the most important values that Thai people hold to are respect, self-control, and a non-confrontational attitude. Though life can be hard for most Thai, you’ll always see them friendly and nice with smiles on their faces. It isn’t called the “Land of Smiles” for nothing.
As can see, it isn’t hard to find good reasons to visit Thailand. And now that the pandemic has given this beautiful country a much needed breather from overtourism, there really is no reason NOT to go…and go now.
