How is it that we’re already into the holiday gift buying season? I know I’m not alone into wondering where all the time has gone. I’m still thinking about something I wanted to get done 6 months ago, and now I have to decide where the tree will go in the house. And when it comes to gift buying, I’m clueless this year. I have no idea what to get anyone. Again, I know I’m not alone in this. Luckily for me and you, Cabela’s once again steps in to save the day with their annual holiday Cabela’s gift guide. The guide is loaded with gift suggestions for the whole family. I picked out some really cool gift ideas, and if my wife reads this, I hope she takes some hints.

1. Cabela’s Catch-All Gear Bag – Can’t Go Wrong

SALE

I can’t tell you just how many of these bags I’ve personally given as gifts over the years. This is one of those stalwart items that Cabela’s has had available for a while and the price is always great. It is great for carrying all sorts of things. I have one in the truck with things like flashlights, gloves, and ice scraper and more. I gace one to my son and he uses it as a tackle box. My wife uses her’s as a tool carrier so she can keep “her” tools away from me and the boys. The bag comes in. multiple colors and is made from weather-resistant 600D polyester. It’s roomier than it seems, offering 1,280 cubic inches of space. Grab several today for gifts for everyone.

Pros/Handy and great price

Cons/None

Bottom Line/A great gift for anyone – who wouldn’t want a handy duffle bag?

2. La Crosse Technology Wireless Professional Weather Station

SALE

I used to think this was a strange gift idea – until my in-laws got me one for Christmas. I find I use it all the time to decide where, when and how I’m going hunting or fishing. It goes well past telling you the temperature and gives you wind speed and direction, barometric pressure readings, dew point and it even alerts me to when there should be a change in the current weather. I like that I can tell which stand I should use, or which lake I should go to before I even leave the house. I can totally see the appeal of giving one as a gift, especially for the hard to buy for types.

Pros/Lots of information for weather geeks

Cons/Limited range – you can’t place the sensor past 330 feet

Bottom Line/One of those gifts that ends up being a favorite – Great for the hard-to-buy-for person in your life

3. TrueTimber Kanati Bedding Collection Comforter Set

SALE

There are three types of people out there – Ones who love camo comforters. those who hate them, and those who tolerate them because their significant other likes them. I’m not going to tell you where my wife fits into this, but for a long time, we had a camo comforter set from Cabela’s. We had it right up until we got a new puppy, who decided it tasted great. Until that time, it was warm and cozy, just like a good comforter should be. A new one might be possible this year, especially if I get her the new pistol she wants – Yeah, my wife packs heat. So do these comforters from Cabela’s. Made from 100% polyester, the sets come with the comforter and two pillow shams. They come in sizes from twin, to king and look great.

Pros/Warm and cozy

Cons/None really

Bottom Line/A cool, camo way to go to bed each night

4. Cabela’s Lock-Up Long-Sleeve Hoodie for Ladies

SALE

You want to know something funny, my wife would be very upset with me if I DIDN’T buy her a Cabela’s hoodie for Christmas. I do it every year and she loves them. They are extremely comfortable and the fit is perfect. She actually buys a lot of clothing from Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shops. She often buys more stuff in these stores than I do, and I buy a lot. These hoodies are made from a 60% cotton/40% polyester blend and have a lined hood.

Pros/A great hoodie

Cons/None – buy at least one

Bottom Line/A great gift for her

5. Vortex Diamondback HD Binoculars

SALE

I have added the Vortex Diamondback HD binoculars to just about every single gift guide and buyer’s guide I’ve written for a while now. Why is that? Because these are probably the best binocular you’ll find in this price range, and anyone who would ever use binoculars would love to have a pair as a gift. They are lightweight and have clarity you’d expect to see in more expensive binoculars. This clarity helps reduce eye strain and gives you a better idea of what you’re looking at.

Pros/Value and clarity

Cons/None

Bottom Line/A great gift for anyone who would use/need/want binoculars

Picking the perfect gift

It is so hard every year to come up with gift ideas for the people in your life. My wife and I have adopted the policy of buying gifts using a simple plan. We get:

Something to wear
Something to read
Something you want
Something you need
Something to do

That last one helps because we like to get the kids something that helps them get out and do something. Of course, when I bought the boys snow shovels and pointed to the driveway, it didn’t go over as well. Oops. There’s always this year!

Cabela’s has outstanding suggestions, too. That is always a great thing, as when you’re stumped, you can always find an idea there for just about anyone.

Will it be hard to find stock before Christmas?

Supply chains may be strained this holiday season, so if there is something you’d like to get for someone, buying it as soon as you find it might be the best option.

Does Cabela’s have other gift giving ideas for me?

Of course they do! Click here for some more ideas and check back often as we’ll update this and other stories with great gift ideas and deals.
